Pondicherry/Puducherry - I like to call it "I'mInHeavenCherry" (yes, I'm very clever).
I can go on and on about this city, and how it's unlike any other that we've been to in India. It's touristic nature, the delicious French pastries, the awesome seafood that comes from the Bay of Bengal, the Ashrams, Auroville, and of course the coastline that lines the city.
This is a city where you can forget you're in India. Imagine walking along a cobblestone street while staring at European architecture. You smell fresh coffee and see a bicycle leaned against a restaurant called "Le Cafe." You hear teenagers speaking in French from afar. And then a rickshaw drives by and you feel the same 'kick' Leonardo DiCaprio felt in Inception, bouncing back to reality.
Now we're not necessarily here to explore and drink coffee 24/7 (as I write this under the influence of two cups).
Our project is starting to unravel more and more each day. Chris was able to link MicroStrategy to the Be Well database. Hoorah! The metrics that have been in development for the past couple months have been reworked numerous times. I'm confident to say that the first wave of metrics that we've developed are about 90% done - and the corresponding benchmarks and visualizations are about the same as well.
While that doesn't give much of an insight into our goals, it basically means that we're well on our way to a successful project. And that makes us happy. And when we get happy we celebrate with coffee.
In terms of the Be Well branch here, we've noticed it holds characteristics from the other Be Well hospitals we've seen - Pudukottai and T. Nagar. The Pondicherry facility is large and has a lot of patients (especially those needing dialysis) come in, much like in Pudukottai. Yet, the patients resemble those such as in T. Nagar - they consist of more of the middle class.
But the Pondicherry branch has a few secrets of it's own - there's a dental clinic inside, unlike the others. While it's not yet utilized, it looks exactly like something from the states. They also have a nephrologist - just one of two within a 100km radius. While he's an on-call consultant, it's still a huge deal here to have access to one. And, I consider the chai here to be a bit more tasty as well...
Well, that's it for now. I definitely cannot summarize Pondicherry within a few pages, so I thought I'd just give the readers a small glimpse into life in this beautiful city.
